Two people have surrendered for the alleged involvement in a brutal attack on an 80-year-old East Point man. But the third suspect remained on the loose late Thursday, according to police.
Dexter Ware, 21, and Iesha Washington, 22, were in custody Thursday night, but Rickey Wilcoxson, 20, remained on the loose, Sgt. Allyn Glover with East Point police said. Wilcoxson has an extensive criminal history, according to police.
The trio will face numerous charges, including aggravated battery on a person 65 years or older, aggravated assault on a person 65 years or older, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, criminal damage to property, armed robbery, transaction card fraud, and identity theft for the attack on Creston Portis.
Portis was assaulted by two men and one woman after returning home from visiting friends Sept. 14, according to police. A female driver blocked the man’s vehicle in the area of Stone Road and Washington Road, and two men jumped from a Mercedes Benz SUV and were armed with at least one handgun, police said. A brick was thrown into the man’s windshield and the suspects beat the man in the head with the handgun before the suspects fled the scene.
Portis suffered serious injuries, including broken bones to his face and cuts on both arms, police said. The three suspects are also suspects in a shooting hours later on Old National Highway, according to police.
Anyone with information about Wilcoxson’s whereabouts is asked to call the East Point police at 404-761-6287 or 404-577-8477. Tips also can be submitted online at crimestoppersatlanta.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
