A woman suspected of driving her boyfriend to and from the scene of a fatal shooting at Riverdale High School has been arrested and charged with murder, authorities said Wednesday.

Imani Burke-Cox, 25, was captured Tuesday after Clayton County deputies placed her mother’s home under surveillance, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Her boyfriend, Marvin Elliot Germain, remains at large following the shooting of a 28-year-old during an Oct. 26 robbery at the high school, AJC.com previously reported. According to the initial investigation, Riverdale police officers found Eyton Lamar Edwards dead at the scene.

Video surveillance showed an older, silver two-door BMW pull up to the high school and Germain exit on the passenger side, authorities said previously.

He is accused of snatching Edwards’ bag and shooting him several times with a .380-caliber handgun before running back across the street and getting into the BMW driven by Burke-Cox, Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill said.

Riverdale police obtained warrants for the woman’s arrest, but authorities said she had no intention of turning herself in. Burke-Cox was taken into custody after deputies spotted her getting into her mother’s car and trying to leave town, authorities said.

“A traffic stop was conducted and all of Cox’s clothing was found inside of the vehicle, indicating that she was attempting to escape Clayton County,” the sheriff’s office said in its release.

Burke-Cox is charged with murder and two counts of being party to the commission of a crime, online records show. She remains held at the Clayton County Jail without bond.

Deputies are still searching for Germain, who is described as 5-foot-10 and about 180 pounds. He has a tattoo of a mechanical brain on his left leg and is considered armed and dangerous, authorities said.
