Coweta County deputies are searching for an “armed and dangerous” suspect after a deadly shooting at a truck stop Friday night.

About 10:45 p.m., deputies responded to the Pilot Truck Stop off U.S. 29, according to a news release. Witnesses said they heard at least two gunshots after two men got into an argument.

The victim was shot once and died after walking into the nearby convenience store and collapsing. Deputies have not released the victim’s name.

The suspect stole the victim’s white van and drove north on U.S. 29 toward I-85, the release said. The stolen van has the words “Assured Conveyance” on the side, and deputies released a surveillance photo of the vehicle.

“If contact is made with this vehicle or the offender, use caution and immediately contact law enforcement,” the sheriff’s office said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact deputies at 404-535-0309 or email Investigator Christian Sparks at cspinks@coweta.ga.us.
