U.S. Marshals arrested the man accused of a New Year’s Day armed robbery at a MARTA station, the U.S. Department of Justice said Monday.

Clifton Spann, 18, was arrested Monday morning at his Kirkwood home by marshals, along with officers from the Atlanta and MARTA police departments, U.S. Marshals Service supervisory inspector Gavin Duffy said.

Spann was was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Spann, a suspected gang member, is the suspect in an armed robbery shortly after midnight Jan. 1 at the East Lake MARTA station, Duffy said.

A handgun and narcotics were seized when a search warrant was executed prior to Spann’s arrest, he said.
