Weeks after a 22-year-old was gunned down outside a South Fulton nightclub, the man believed to be responsible for the fatal shooting was captured in New Jersey.

Shymik Mewborn, 26, was arrested in Trenton on Tuesday by U.S. marshals, the South Fulton Police Department said in a news release.

The Riverdale man had been on the run since Sept. 14 when Juwan Barksdale was shot and killed in the parking lot of Club South Beach along Old National Highway, according to police.

The fatal shooting took place about 3:20 a.m. and stemmed from an argument between Mewborn and Barksdale at the club, South Fulton police spokesman Lt. Jubal Rogers said.

Mewborn is charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, authorities said. He is being held in New Jersey as he awaits extradition to Georgia to face charges here.
