Atlanta Police have identified the alleged hit-and-run driver accused of critically injuring a woman Friday evening.

Robert Fitzgerald, 45, has been arrested and charged with hit and run/failure to render aid, driving under the influence and serious injury by vehicle, according to police spokesman John Chafee.

The injured woman, whose name was not released, was hit by an SUV in the 800 block of Spring Street near The Cheetah club shortly before 7 p.m., according to police. She was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Witnesses told investigators the SUV involved was a silver Land Rover, Lyon said. The SUV was located and Fitzgerald was arrested late Friday, according to police.
