A general manager at a Greenville, South Carolina, hotel was at the right place at a right time and ended up saving a dog's life.
WYFF reported that Ben Duke acted quickly when he saw a dog being dragged up elevator doors by its leash.
A hotel guest stepped in the elevator with his dog, named Boo Boo, on a leash, but it wasn't following close enough behind him and was stuck outside when the elevator doors closed.
Duke realized what happened soon after he stepped out of a storage closet and took action.
“I just grabbed it, and struggled with it, then I guess adrenaline set in or something, and I snapped the leash right above my hand,” Duke told WYFF.
“The dog was scared, and fought me pretty hard,” Duke said. “In fact, he scratched me pretty good on my face. I don’t blame him. It was pretty scary.”
The owner of the dog, a regular hotel guest, was thankful.
“He was crying and was so grateful," Duke said. "He just came up and hugged me. It was pretty crazy.”
Duke told a friend about it and he recommended he post the video, which he realized he had from surveillance footage, on social media.
It has nearly 97,000 views on YouTube. Watch the video below.
