Baseball, tennis and marching music top this weekend’s list of downtown events, and while the drum and bugle corps will face off indoors at the Georgia Dome, the forecast of sunny skies will be welcome news for baseball and tennis fans.

Rundown on the big events:

The Braves take on the Padres in a weekend series at Turner Field. First pitches are scheduled for 7:35 p.m. Friday, 7:10 p.m. Saturday and 5:05 p.m. Sunday.

BB&T Atlanta Open tennis matches continue daily through Sunday at Atlantic Station.

The Georgia Dome will be filled Saturday with the sounds of 28 drum and bugle corps from as far away as Medellin, Colombia, competing in the Drum Corps International Southeastern Championships.

Dry weekend forecast:

Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton is forecasting mostly sunny skies Friday and Saturday, and partly cloudy skies Sunday.

Weekend highs will be in the low 90s, with overnight lows in the 70, according to Minton.

If it’s the weekend, there must be road construction:

On the east side of town, two eastbound lanes of I-20 will be closed for a three-mile stretch between Conyers and Covington, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday.

West of town on I-20 in Douglas County, crews will be alternately closing lanes in both directions between Ga. 5 and Liberty Road during the same times.

In Cobb County, two lanes of I-285 northbound will be closed during those times from South Cobb Drive to Paces Ferry Road. Also on I-285, the left lane in each direction will be closed all weekend between Powers Ferry Road and I-75.

Downtown, overnight re-striping will be done on the I-20 westbound ramps to Flat Shoals Road, Glenwood Avenue, Capitol Avenue and Windsor Street. The ramps will remain open during the 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. work times, but the Georgia Department of Transportation warned that delays are likely.
