Seasonal Sunday weather forecast

If you’ve been wishing for the right weather to get outside, today is your day. Sunday is poised to be “bright and beautiful,” with high temperatures in the low 60s, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon.

You’ll need a jacket at the start of the day, as temperatures in metro Atlanta are falling in the mid- and low 30s. Right now, it is 35 degrees in Atlanta.

However, you won’t notice any clouds in the sky.

“We are going to start the day with plenty of sunshine and that’s how we will end as well,” Deon said.

The clear skies will set us up for a warm, pleasant afternoon, Deon said. As the day progresses temperatures will climb to 47 degrees at 10 a.m., 54 degrees at noon, 58 degrees at 2 p.m. and to the day’s predicted high of 61 degrees at 3 p.m.

The day will also be entirely dry, with no chance of precipitation in the forecast.

“We are not expecting to see any rainfall at all,” Deon said.

The weather might not pose much of an issue this weekend, but traffic could be a different story. Atlanta will host the NBA’s All-Star Weekend, and there will be plenty of parties and events taking place despite Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ pleas to the contrary.

Much of the traffic will be concentrated downtown where the NBA All-Star Game will take place at State Farm Arena on Sunday night. The event — the big game starts at 8 p.m. — will have a compressed schedule with the dunk contest taking place during halftime.

Traffic is likely to increase downtown throughout the day, but expect heavier traffic than usual in other popular neighborhoods with large event venues like Buckhead and midtown.
