As the long weekend rolls on, so does the incredible late-summer weather.
Sunday’s weather will continue the trend of mostly sunny, dry days but it might also kick the heat up a notch. The high is forecast to hit 89 and, while there might be a bit more cloud cover and humidity, there’s still a zero chance of rain.
A cold front is predicted to move into North Georgia by Sunday evening, and Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns warns that it could bring rain overnight and on Monday.
“In the meantime, it’s going to be really nice,” Burns said. “By Sunday afternoon, we’ll start to see a change ... from comfortable to muggy.”
Temperatures will remain much the same on Labor Day and into the shortened workweek, with highs hitting the mid- to high 80s and chances of scattered thunderstorms each day Monday through Wednesday.

Moving through the weekend, traffic is expected to decrease slightly each day, but Sunday will still be busy around the metro area. Several events that began Saturday will continue, including DragonCon and the Taste of Soul festival downtown along with the Atlanta Jazz Fest in Midtown’s Piedmont Park.
The city will get a break from major sporting events Sunday ahead of the second Chick-fil-A Kickoff game Monday, which will feature the Louisville Cardinals against the Ole Miss Rebels at 8 p.m. in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Expect fewer construction projects on Atlanta’s roads thanks to the holiday. However, watch out for the usual lane closures and changes to traffic patterns around the junction of I-285 and Ga. 400 for the ongoing Transform 285/400 project.
