Students in SE Atlanta bus crash cleared to return to class
All the students on a bus rear-ended in southeast Atlanta on Tuesday morning were cleared to return to class by medical personnel, school officials said.
The bus was rear-ended by a sport utility vehicle about 8:40 a.m. near the intersection of Humphries Drive and Browns Mill Road.
The bus was headed to nearby Crawford Long Middle School.
About 21 of the 32 students on board were complaining of neck and back injuries, but did not have visual injuries, said Atlanta Public Schools Safety and Security Director Marquenta Sands.
Emergency medical technicians gave full assessments to the students who indicated they might be injured, and all of the students’ parents were notified, officials said
“They’re all OK, as far as we know,” Sands said.
The driver of the SUV was cited by police and released.
