While in a department store dressing room with her mother, a Gwinnett County teenager made a startling observation. There was a man staring down at her from the ceiling.
The man quickly moved, but not before both the 13-year-old and her mom got a good look at the man and called Lawrenceville police while at the Kohl’s on Collins Hill Road last Thursday, according to an incident report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The woman told police she saw the store manager go into a sealed room near the dressing room before she and her daughter spotted the man in the ceiling, the report states.
When the woman asked to speak to the store’s manager, David Ronald Williams told her he was the manager and the only man working in the store, the report states. Williams, 54, of Watkinsville, was allegedly the man peeping in on the victims in the junior department dressing room, according to police.
Another woman was in the dressing room at the time, but told police she didn’t notice anyone in the ceiling, according to police.
A Lawrenceville officer arrived at the store and asked Williams if he was looking through the ceiling at females in the dressing room, police said.
“Williams advised that he would never do anything like that and there are several males working in the store,” the report states. “I asked Williams were the males there now wearing the same thing he was and did they look just like him.”
The officer checked another women’s dressing room and found more missing ceiling tiles, the report states.
Williams was arrested and charged with two counts of being a Peeping Tom, according to Gwinnett County jail records. He was released several hours later after posting $2,600 bond, jail records show. Williams is no longer employed at the store.
