New Georgia license plates will be available in all 159 counties starting Monday, as the state begins to phase out older versions.

According to the Georgia Department of Revenue, any license plate issued prior to December 1, 2003, will be replaced either when owners renew their vehicle registration or when they registered a vehicle in Georgia for the first time. License plates issued after December 1, 2003, will be replaced starting in May 2013.

The image on the new plate is an image of rolling fields framed with peaches. It was created by Linda Sosebee, an artist from Middle Georgia's Monroe County. Gov. Nathan Deal chose the design last year.
