A new Homewood Suites hotel is set to open near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport following a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 1, thanks to $15 million in investments from 30 foreign investors.

The financial backers — who hail from the China, India, Nigeria, the United Kingdom and other countries — are participating in the federal E-B5 immigration program. The program offers green cards to investors who create or preserve at least 10-full-time jobs within two years of their admission to the U.S.

The hotel’s construction and ongoing operations are expected to generate 503 jobs, said Sachin Patel, managing principal of the American Life Atlanta EB-5 Regional Center, which coordinated the hotel investments. The foreign investors have already begun receiving their green cards, Patel said.

A U.S. investor, Rajesh Patel of the Rossmore Management Group — the project’s developer — kicked in $3 million for the $18 million hotel. It is located at the site of a former car-rental lot off Bobby Brown Parkway in East Point.
