Georgia turtles trump the sun?

Everybody wants clean air. Everybody wants to turn the sun into a cheap and renewable energy source. Everybody, that is, except the turtles of South Georgia.

Solar panels mushrooming across the state's mid-section increasingly cover territory where gopher tortoises, a potentially endangered species, forage for food and make their homes.

Georgia's push into renewable energy — solar, wind, biomass and natural gas — brings unseen costs and consequences.

It ain’t easy being green.
