Sex abuse victims would have more time to report alleged crimes under a bill passed unanimously Thursday by the Senate.
Spurred by the Penn State sex abuse scandal, Senate Bill 316 would extend the statute of limitations related to sex crimes against children, giving victims 10 years from their 18th birthday to report abuse and 15 years if the crime involved forcible rape.
The bill is sponsored by Sen. Charlie Bethel, R-Dalton. It now goes to the House for consideration.
