Atlanta lawyer Mary Paige Adams will join the state ethics commission board July 1.

Adams will succeed Kevin Abernethy, the current chairman of the commission, when his term expires at the end of this month.

Commissioners are barred by law from serving more than one full term.

Adams was selected to the post by the Senate Committee on Assignments, according to a person with knowledge of the appointment. The Senate and the House Speaker each appoint one of the five commissioners, while the other three are appointed by the governor.

Adams works for TrialGraphix, which helps lawyers choose juries and develop graphics and presentations for trial. She was formerly a partner at a law firm. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia.
