A feel-good ad from Stacey Abrams’ campaign for governor says Tuesday’s election isn’t the finish line but “just the beginning” with Medicaid expansion and other initiatives.

The ad began running in metro Atlanta on Thursday and is being funded by Abrams’ campaign.

The former Democratic leader in the Georgia House, Abrams is locked in a down-to-the-wire race with the Republican nominee, Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp, to succeed two-term Gov. Nathan Deal. With Libertarian Ted Metz also in the race, a runoff is possible.

The plot

Abrams is upbeat and smiling in this ad, which opens with scenes from across the state and her recollection of months on the campaign trail, “meeting, laughing, praying and listening.”

“Through it all, one thing has become crystal clear: Georgia is ready,” she says.

Abrams said Medicaid expansion, one of the cornerstones of her campaign, will save rural hospitals and create 56,000 jobs.

She tells viewers Georgia’s also ready for a “cradle to college” education system, an economy that supports hardworking families, and “the freedom and opportunity for each and every one of us to thrive.”

Abrams closes, saying: “And I’m ready to be your next governor. Nov. 6 is not the finish line. It is just the beginning.”
