Hunker down, Atlantans. We are in store for a gusty, rain-soaked Sunday. And Monday. And still some rain Tuesday.

Scattered showers through the mid-morning Sunday will give way to widespread rain, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Katie Walls. And then it could get worse.

Meteorologist Katie Walls has your Sunday afternoon weather forecast.

A flood watch is set to go into effect at 8 p.m. Sunday until Monday afternoon, and as much as 4 inches of rain are expected in parts of the metro area.

Some creeks and streams may flood their banks, and sustained winds of 25 mph could down trees and send limbs flying.

Monday is expected to be just as soggy, with forecasts showing a 100 percent chance of rain, Walls said. The high could reach 70 for the soggy start to the workweek.

The rainy weather should peter out by the end of the week. By Thursday, balmy weather is set to return.
