A Smyrna man has been arrested by Cobb County police and charged with the New Year's Eve shooting death of a woman as well as with three recent armed robberies in the Marietta area.

Officers responding to reports of a car wreck on Windy Hill Road just after 1 a.m. Dec. 31 found Manju Gurung Poonmagar, 37, of Marietta, dead inside the vehicle from an apparent gunshot wound.

According to Cobb police spokesman Mike Bowman, investigators Thursday arrested 26-year-old Sergio Vera-Lule and charged him with felony murder and aggravated assault.

Vera-Lule, who is being held without bond in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, was also charged with three counts of armed robbery for allegedly robbing Molina’s Check Cashing on Dec. 28, Concorde Superette on Dec. 29 and a Western Union office on Jan. 8.
