A local skydiver had the fright his life on Saturday (April 11) when his parachute malfunctioned in midair and he was blown off course.

Luke Godfrey's helmet camera fell off in the process and captured a 1000 metre plunge to the ground which could have potentially been his fate. Godfrey said that it was a routine jump which he was conducting with two other experienced skydivers. He waved good-bye to them midair when powerful wind slammed into him and twisted the line of his parachute. His helmet then swiftly fell off.
