DeKalb County police are investigating skeletal remains found near the corner of Glenwood Road and Covington Highway.

Early Thursday evening police were called to the scene by someone who came across the remains while looking for scrap metal, said Mark F. Lavigne of the DeKalb homicide/assault unit.

The remains appear to be that of an adult, not a child, he said. The gender and cause of death were not immediately clear.

“We’ll get more information during the autopsy,” he said. “We’re in the infancy of the investigation right now.”
