Medical examiners are now in charge of solving the mystery of the identity of a skeleton discovered in Cobb County, police said today. They are also trying to determine the cause of death.

It won't necessarily be an easy task.

"Sometimes these investigations can take a while," Cobb police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an email.

Scrap metal hunters found the remains Wednesday near the intersection of Cranfill Road and Joyner Avenue and called police. The Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office has already determined the remains are human.
