It may have been the slowest getaway vehicle ever. And it almost worked.
Cops say Shirley Mason took the five-finger discount on nearly $600 worth of stuff at the Walmart in Fruitport Township, Michigan.
But who wants to walk with all that loot? Shirley grabbed a $1,200 motorized shopping cart from the store and hit the trail toward home.
KLive.com reports Shirley told police she paid for the goods "but couldn't provide any proof that she had."
Cops checked on Mason and a man who was found with her. Both had outstanding warrants and were arrested.
When officers asked Mason why she lifted the shopping cart, she simply said she “didn’t feel like walking.”
Mason faces charges for second-degree retail fraud and organized retail crime.
However, she will not be cited for speeding in a getaway vehicle.
