Debris in a main sewage line caused about 156 gallons of sewage to spill onto Hutchens Road SE near South Atlanta High School on Tuesday evening.

The spill occurred on Tuesday at 7:28 p.m. and a waste water services team contained the spill at 8:20 p.m., according to the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management. The area was cleaned and disinfected.

The department called the spill “minor,” but noted that sewage may have flowed into the South River. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division has been notified of the spill.
