Gwinnett County police are searching for a man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend early Saturday and leaving her body in a Buford neighborhood.

The woman’s body was discovered in the roadway near Roxwood Park Drive and Woodward Mill Road shortly after 5 a.m, police said. She was later identified as 20-year-old Shakeya Smith.

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots in the area just before the body was found, investigators said.

Authorities said the fatal shooting was captured on neighborhood security cameras. Smith’s boyfriend, Moses Dyl, is wanted on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault in the case.

Dyl was last seen in Lithonia sometime after the shooting, police said in a news release. He is considered armed and dangerous.

The incident was one of two fatal shootings reported overnight in Gwinnett.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a shooting at the Reserve at Peachtree Corners apartment complex, Gwinnett police spokesman officer Jacob Albright said in an emailed statement.

They arrived to find two people — a man and a woman — who had been shot inside a silver car. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, who was shot multiple times, was treated by officers and taken to a hospital.

It’s unclear what led to the shooting, and police are still working to identify the victims, Albright said. No other information was released.

Anyone with information on either either case is asked to call Gwinnett detectives at 770-513-5300. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for cash rewards, by contacting Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
