Both men killed Sunday during an apparent shootout in northwest Atlanta have now been identified.
John Cross of the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said Tuesday that 55-year-old Lester Parham was killed during the double shooting, which took place about 12:30 a.m. on the 800 block of North Avenue NW.
Authorities previously identified the other deceased man as 27-year-old Emmanuel Stanton.
Atlanta police spokesman Officer Ralph Woolfolk said Sunday that preliminary findings suggested that Parham and Stanton killed each other while exchanging gunshots. Sgt. Greg Lyon, another spokesman, said Tuesday that the incident was “a verbal argument that escalated into a shooting” but declined to release further details.
