The driver of a DeKalb school bus involved in a three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon that injured four people will be cited in the incident, authorities said.

The bus was on the way to DeKalb High School of Technology South when the crash occurred around 12:30 p.m., DeKalb Schools spokesman Quinn Hudson said. The vehicle carried 15 students and a driver, and one female student was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The remaining students were placed on another bus and taken to DeKalb Tech.

Channel 2 Action News reported that one driver and two juveniles from the two cars involved were also taken to area hospitals. Their injuries were believed to be minor.

Hudson said the district was notified that the driver was to be cited for failure to yield. Per district protocol, the driver was tested for drugs and alcohol after the crash and a driving history check will be done. The driver also will be required to undergo additional training.

District officials will use the results of the investigation to determine if any administrative action will need to be taken against the driver, he added.

Students at DeKalb High School of Technology South will be sent home Friday with a letter addressing the crash and the protocol the district is following.
