Scammers are contacting Marietta Power and Water customers by phone, claiming their check payments have been returned and their accounts are past due.

Then the scammers ask customers to provide their credit card information over the phone or else their service will be disconnected if they do not comply.

Marietta Power and Water representatives say they do not contact their customers by phone regarding past due bills.

Also, they say customers should never comply with any requests for information over the phone.

Aware of the scam, local law enforcement officials are working with Marietta Power and Water officials to resolve the problem.

Any Marietta Power and Water customer receiving such a call should get as much information from the caller as possible and then call Marietta Power and Water at 770-794-5100, so they can continue to cooperate with law enforcement.
