With interest in paddleboarding growing, Sandy Springs Park and Recreation officials and two private outdoor companies are teaming up for the fourth annual "Stand up for the Hooch" Paddleboard Race and Festival this weekend. It's set for 9 a.m. Sunday at Morgan Falls Overlook Park, 200 Morgan Falls Road.

City officials said the event, with a recreational race at 10 a.m. and an elite race at 10:30, is expected to attract both world-class competitors and beginners. Various divisions will include a six-mile course for elite paddlers and a two-mile race for beginners, plus separate divisions for men, women and children.

The event is being co-sponsored by Yolo Surf Company and High Country Outfitters, and is part of the SUP Splash Race series.
