The city of Roswell appears to be trying to take a page from Peachtree City’s embrace of golf cart mobility.

The Roswell City Council next week will consider asking state officials to amend the Georgia Personal Transportation Vehicle law to allow vehicles such as golf carts on city streets with speed limits of up to 35 miles an hour. Current law allows PTVs only on streets with limits to 25.

City officials say changing the law would clear the way to designating specific roads with limits of up to 35 mph where golf carts and similar vehicles would be allowed. It would also allow the city to name certain paths as cart paths, allow golf cart access to Canton Street from surrounding neighborhoods, and allow cart access to school zones and commercial districts.

The Council meeting is set for 7 p.m. Nov. 10 in the Council chambers at City Hall, 38 Hill St.
