A Rockdale County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Wednesday on drug charges.

Shadrika Burney, 29, of Conyers, was taken into custody just before 1:45 a.m., according to online jail records. Burney is suspected of possessing marijuana while on duty and has been charged with multiple drug counts as well as violating her oath of office, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Burney was booked into the Newton County Jail.

Burney has been placed on administrative leave while the Rockdale sheriff’s office investigates the incident.
