Intense winds have led to dangerous conditions in western New York.

According to WKBW, law enforcement officials advised citizens not to travel to certain areas and to drive cautiously everywhere.

Police told people to walk and drive with caution due to trees, branches, debris and electrical wires down.

Niagra Falls mayor Paul Dyster asked residents to avoid unnecessary travel until further notice.

Several thousand people were without power as winds picked up, WKBW said.
