Report: Best and Worst Car Colors for Resale Value

Thinking about selling your vehicle? How much you get for it could depend on what color it is!
That's the consensus of a recent report from car research site iSeeCars.com.
Can Your Car’s Color Affect Its Value? Read On To Find Out
From 2017 to 2020, the website looked at more than 6 million new and used cars to determine which colors affected sale prices for better, for worse — or not so much.
“A vehicle’s color is among the primary considerations after shoppers have decided on a make and model,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer.
Should you go with a black, white or silver vehicle? According to Brauer, “Many consumers [are] picking these mainstream colors not because they like them, but because they assume everyone else does.”
"Black, and silver appear to be in high demand, yet our analysis confirms that more obscure colors tend to hold their value better than common and popular colors," he says.

Money expert Clark Howard says, when you're thinking about selling your vehicle, you should go through the selling process with both CarMax and Carvana to get a good sense of what it's worth.
“The reality is that those two players have changed the game so much that what I recommend is that you start by getting a price from both of them,” Clark says. “Once you have that, then you know how much additional money you would want to make selling it yourself [to determine whether] it’s worth the pain points of doing that.”
