Parents were less than impressed when an Augusta theater allegedly showed a group of children scenes from the recently released movie "Sex Tape" instead of the kid's flick "Mr. Peabody & Sherman," according to the Augusta Chronicle.

Regal Entertainment Group said Tuesday it is investigating parents’ complaints that the children, at the theater as part of its $1 Summer Movie Express program, were exposed to inappropriate material, including cursing and nudity.

"Sex Tape," the aptly named film starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel, tells the story of a no longer hot-and-heavy couple that tries to bring the spark back by making a sex tape, which is accidentally sent out to all of their friends. The couple spends the rest of the movie undertaking a series of ridiculous endeavors to keep anyone from seeing the tape.

The film, which hit theaters July 18, is not suitable for children, as evidenced by its R rating.

“We experienced a programming issue during one of our morning features at Augusta Exchange,” Russ Nunley, the vice president of marketing and communications for Regal Entertainment Group, said in an e-mail to the Chronicle. “The issue was quickly identified and corrected and we are evaluating the nature of the problem to ensure it is not repeated.”
