Rapper Waka Flocka Flame was arrested Friday after police said they found a handgun inside his carry-on bag at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

The weapon was located in a domestic checkpoint lane at the airport, Officer Ralph Woolfolk with Atlanta police said.

The rapper, whose real name is Juaquin James Malphurs, did not have a weapons permit, Woolfolk said. Waka, 28, of McDonough, was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon in a prohibited place, according to police.

He was transported to the Clayton County jail, where he spent less than three hours before being released on bond Friday afternoon, records showed.

The rapper and his wife, Tammy Rivera, are currently starring on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. No information was released on where Waka was headed. He is scheduled to perform Saturday in Albany, N.Y., according to his website.
