Publix Super Markets has announced its doors will close at 9 p.m. Tuesday so its associates can make it home safely.

Brenda Reid, the grocery chain’s spokeswoman, said stores could re-open at 9 a.m. Wednesday, depending on weather conditions. She said stores will be well-stocked if associates are able to get to work and stores open.

“Yesterday and today we saw very busy shopping patterns in most of our stores in North Georgia,” she wrote in a news release. “We were able to deliver milk, eggs, dry goods, meats and produce to most stores today.”

Publix’s delivery trucks have been recalled to the chain’s distribution center in anticipation of freezing rain and ice on the interstates, she said.
