A ceremony celebrating the construction of the new Heards Ferry Elementary School in Sandy Springs is set for 9: 30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Nov. 13 at the school construction site, 6151 Powers Ferry Road.

The school is set to open in August 2015 with a capacity of 850 students. The public will be able to view architectural designs for the three-story school as well as hear from school and construction officials about features for the new campus.

The school is being built by Parrish Construction. It’s part of a larger school construction effort funded through a one-penny educational sales tax. It will replace the current school at 1050 Heards Ferry Road.
