A Texas woman is accused of assaulting her common-law husband when he did not answer when she asked him if she was pretty, the Laredo Morning Times reported.

Lizbeth Guadalupe Ramirez, 20, of Laredo, was charged with two counts of family violence assault, according to police.

According to Laredo police, Ramirez said her husband had assaulted her and tried to strangle her, the newspaper reported. However, the man told police the couple had been at a theater when Ramirez asked if she looked pretty, the Morning Times reported. The man claimed he did not answer Ramirez because he could not hear her, which made the woman angry, the newspaper reported.

The couple went home, and the man said Ramirez hit him while he was driving, police said. Ramirez allegedly continued the assault when the couple arrived home, striking the man and pushing him, the Morning Times reported.

A relative tried to separate the couple but was allegedly assaulted by Ramirez, the newspaper reported, leading to her arrest.
