Federal authorities seized 100 pounds of marijuana and captured a man suspected of being a major drug trafficker at an East Point home Wednesday afternoon.

U.S. marshals found the marijuana, a pistol and some methamphetamine in the house where they arrested Josh Varner, 34, said inspector Gavin Duffy with the marshal service.

Authorities believe that Varner is a major supplier in a drug ring that started in Savannah, Duffy said.

Varner was indicted three years ago for narcotics trafficking and has been on the run ever since, he said.
