DeKalb County police Monday morning were investigating an overnight smash-and-grab burglary in which the thieves drove a stolen car through the front of a Memorial Drive sporting goods store.
The incident happened about 12:30 a.m. at Hibbett Sports in the Belvedere Plaza shopping center.
A stolen 2015 Acura “was driven in reverse into the front of the store to damage the burglar screens and gain entry,” DeKalb police Capt. S.R. Fore told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an email.
“Once the doors and burglar screens were damaged, the driver of the Acura exited, along with three other suspects from a second black sedan parked in the parking lot,” Fore said.
He said the burglars ran into the store, grabbed miscellaneous clothing items and fled in the second vehicle, leaving the Acura at the scene.
