A Sandy Springs teenager told police a man cut her with a knife after she accidentally bumped into him. Now, an investigators hope a sketch of the man will help them identify him.

The North Springs High School student told police she missed her school bus March 11 and was heading to a MARTA stop around 7:45 a.m. when she bumped into a man in the breezeway of her apartment complex, according to the police report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

That’s when the man grabbed her, put a hand across her mouth and said “Don’t be bumping into me” and “Be more careful,” according to police.

“She advised that he then used a small ‘hand knife blade’ and cut her,” the report states.

The man then let her go and pushed her away, and the teen caught a MARTA bus to school, she said. When she went to the school office to get a bandage for the cut on her hip, a school employee asked her what happened, but she declined to tell her, police said. When the school contacted the girl’s mother, she told her she had been assaulted.

“I asked her why she didn’t tell anyone up to this point,” the police report states. “The victim advised that she was not the type of person to tell someone about this type of event.”

The teen described the suspect as being 28 to 32 years old and about 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black hoodie with the hood pulled up at the time of the alleged assault. The victim also described the man as having a dark complexion, a small mustache, bushy eyebrows, and a deep voice. She said he looked tired and smelled of alcohol.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to contact Detective D. Lapides at 770-551-6933.
