Hall County authorities are investigating what they believe is a fatal Christmas Day shooting in Flowery Branch.
Deputies responded to a 911 hang-up call at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from a home on the 6000 block of River Hill Drive. A man at the residence told them the 911 call came from another man inside the apartment. When deputies asked to speak to the caller, the man shut the door and refused to let the deputies check inside the home, according to a written statement by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
When the deputies checked the area around the home, they discovered a mortally injured man lying in the backyard, who appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound.
The county SWAT was called in and negotiated with the man inside the home. Two men inside the home were eventually arrested without incident, the statement said.
The victim was pronounced dead at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
The sheriff’s office is withholding the identities of those involved pending further investigation.
