If you’ve seen a flyer about a benefit for the Marietta Fire Department, authorities want you to know it’s a fake.

The flyer for the so-called 10th Annual City of Marietta Firefighters Golf Classic indicates proceeds will go to the “Firefighters Death and Disability Fund,” according to the police department.

However, police said Wednesday afternoon “the Marietta Fire Department is unaware of any benefit or fundraiser on its behalf. Additionally some of the information contained in the flyer is inaccurate.”

Before contributing to any cause, police said donors should properly vet organizations that will benefit from the donations.
