A man accused of using his 7-week-old son as a diversion as he shoplifted has bonded out of jail.

According to Clayton County jail records, Talat Muwwakkil, 27, was booked into the detention center on charges of theft and cruelty to children Wednesday, and he posted bond Thursday afternoon.

Muwwakkil was at Macy’s in Southlake Mall when loss prevention officers noticed that he put a pair of shorts inside the newborn’s carrier, Morrow police told Channel 2 Action News.

When he saw the store’s security staff, he took off running while carrying the baby, Channel 2 reported.

Morrow police saw Muwwakkil running across Mount Zion Road and he was arrested.
