Gwinnett County police are questioning a man after a fatal shooting at an apartment complex near Norcross.
The incident occurred Friday morning at the Paces Crossing Apartments in the 4300 block of Jimmy Carter Boulevard, Gwinnett police said in a news release.
According to Channel 2 Action News, several witnesses heard an argument between a woman and the dead man. At some point, the alleged shooter pulled out a gun and fired as many as three times, Channel 2 reported.
The shooting was the result of a domestic dispute between a woman, her estranged husband and a third party, according to the release.
When police arrived on the scene about 7 a.m., they found the dead man, identified as 35-year-old William Damron of Tennessee, at the entrance of the apartment complex, police said in the release.
The alleged shooter was taken to Gwinnett police headquarters for questioning, and the woman was detained, according to Channel 2. Their identities were not immediately available.
“At this point,” police said in the release, “charges have not been filed due to self-defense claims by the third party and unaffiliated witness accounts.”
The incident remains under investigation.
