A man was rushed to a hospital late Wednesday after he was shot during an alleged break-in at a northwest Atlanta home, according to police.

Tyrell Johnson, 36, remained in the hospital Thursday morning but will be taken to the Fulton County Jail on a burglary charge upon his release, Atlanta police said in a statement.

Officers said Johnson forced his way into a home along Dahlia Avenue about 11:15 p.m. When he got inside, he attacked a resident, police said. Another resident then shot Johnson multiple times and called police. Johnson was last reported as being stable.

An investigation is ongoing.
