A Florida man is accused of smoking methamphetamines and holding his girlfriend against her will while he attacked their mattress in a fit of rage, the Pensacola News-Journal reported.
Felipe Oquendo, 37, of Fort Walton Beach, is charged with false imprisonment and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with the Friday morning incident, the newspaper reported.
Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office officials said they received a call about 1:10 a.m. Friday. The woman said Oquendo was acting erratically and had accused her of cheating on him and thought a man was hiding inside the mattress, WJHG reported. Believing the mattress in the home was used for the alleged infidelity, Oquendo allegedly stabbed the mattress with a bedpost and then ripped it apart with his hands, the News-Journal reported.
Oquendo then allegedly locked the bedroom door and refused to let the woman leave, but she was able to escape while the man stabbed the mattress, the newspaper reported. When deputies arrived, Oquendo allegedly told them he was fighting the man in the mattress and was holding him down, but the man had escaped, the News-Journal reported.
