Atlanta police Wednesday were trying to determine who broke into nearly two dozen cars in the gated parking lot of a Grant Park apartment building Sunday night or early Monday.

Officers dispatched to the Roosevelt Apartments in the 700 block of Hansell Street about 3 a.m. Monday discovered that 22 cars had been vandalized.

According to a police incident report, the glass had been broken out on some of the vehicles, while other cars that had been left unlocked were also ransacked.

Items reported stolen include an iPod, two camcorders, a guitar, a cell phone, blank checks, a social security card, a money order and a vehicle title.

One of the victims found the magazine from a firearm with rounds in it next to her car and gave it to investigators, the report stated.

One of the victims, Joseph Lenton, told Channel 2 Action News that he had two vehicles broken into, and “thousands of dollars of merchandise” was taken.

Lenton told the station that the thieves pried open the door to his work truck and stole hair styling tools he distributes for a living.

Detectives were working to pull video footage from surveillance cameras at the complex, according to the police report.
