My Style: Laura Turner Seydel

The environmental activist describes her style as "comfortable and classic with a twist of eco-chic."

LAURA TURNER SEYDEL, 47, is an eco-living expert, activist, author and mother who lives in Buckhead.

SIGNATURE STYLE: Comfortable and classic with a twist of eco-chic. Pictured: Organic white linen tunic from Zoica Matei, red tank top by Linda Loudermilk, Ralph Lauren jeans and Smart Glass earrings (which were made from recycled salad dressing bottles).

BEST FIND: "Joinus Dry Cleaners on 14th Street, which uses less harmful chemicals than standard dry cleaning practices and encourages plastic and hanger recycling."

A WEAKNESS: "Unique, repurposed finds. There is an overwhelming creativity when it comes to green fashion and I love it when I find something old reinvented into something new. Smart Glass Jewelry exemplifies this ideal by creating amazing jewelry from used wine and beer bottles, and I recently found handbags made from an old parachute and old boat sails." These pieces of Smart Glass jewelry by Atlanta designer Kathleen Plate are made from Coke bottles and other items.

FAVORITE LABELS: "Ralph Lauren is a staple in my collection. I also love Gucci shoes for their comfort, style and quality. I also often wear Linda Loudermilk and Donna Karan for their passion in doing things differently from the status quo." Ralph Lauren tan linen jacket and green pants, Michael Kors tank top, Gucci flats and Mark Edge necklace.

STANDOUT FASHION MOMENT: "Walking the runway [in Carmen Marc Valvo] during New York Fashion Week in the 'Be Eco Chic' fashion show. It was a great moment to see so many high-fashion designers design with sustainability in mind." Natural stone Buddha ring.

BIGGEST SPLURGE: "An organic cotton Maggie Norris couture dress for an event in New York City. The dress is breathtaking not only in its design, but in its message of sustainability." Turquoise earrings by Mark Edge.

FAVORITE STORES: "I love ecoEMPORIUM for their organic clothing, sustainable jewelry, and unique repurposed handbags. But I admit that no shopping trip is complete without a trip to Ralph Lauren, Saks, Gucci, Bob Ellis and Jeffrey." Gold Prada shoes with cork wedges.

Seydel's purses (made from recycled material) include an Oilily purse made from parachute fabric, a Jane Fonda bag made from recycled plastic, a Kay Jay Collection clutch made from recycled tapestry and an Ashley Watson bag made from a leather jacket.

ATLANTA STYLE IS ... "casual chic with a sense of individuality. There are so many talented local designers who are reinventing fashion and it helps us Atlantans stand out from the rest of the country, while still staying true to our individual sense of style. I always feel a sense of Atlanta pride when I'm traveling and I get compliments on the pieces that have come from our local designers." Organic cotton T-shirt, and earrings by Cassavoy & Co.
